Fox Neo Suspension, officially known as Live Valve Neo, is Fox Racing’s latest wireless suspension system. It automatically adjusts your rear shock between firm and open modes based on terrain, using onboard sensors and a built-in controller. It replaces the old wired Live Valve system with a fully wireless, faster-responding design.

How Does It Work?
Neo uses sensors mounted on the fork and rear triangle to monitor trail feedback in real time. These sensors send data to the controller embedded in the shock, which switches between an “open” mode for absorbing bumps and a “firm” mode for pedaling efficiency. The system reacts in about 1 millisecond, far faster than a rider could respond manually.
What Bikes Is It Compatible With?
Fox Neo is currently only available for use with Float X Live Valve Neo (air shock) and DHX Live Valve Neo (coil shock). It’s compatible with most modern trail and enduro bikes, though frame clearance and mounting space for sensors and the battery must be considered. It’s an aftermarket upgrade and not yet standard on full bike builds.
Is Fox Neo Suspension Good?
Yes — most riders and reviewers say Fox Neo delivers excellent performance. It improves climbing efficiency by keeping the suspension firm when the trail is smooth, and it opens instantly when terrain gets rough. This allows riders to focus on riding, not fiddling with lockouts or settings. It also offers app-based customization for tuning the timing and firmness to your liking.

Any Downsides or Issues?
Some users report the system feels overly firm at times if the sag or timing settings aren’t dialed in. Others note it’s still early in its product lifecycle and may not be as “plug and play” as it sounds. If the battery dies mid-ride, the shock defaults to open mode — which is safe, but not ideal for climbing.
How Much Does It Cost?
The Fox Neo system is a premium product. Pricing in the UK is typically:
- Float X Neo or DHX Neo shock: ~£1,100
- Sensor + battery kit: ~£450
Total cost: around £1,550–£1,600 for a complete setup.
Who Should Buy Fox Neo
Neo is ideal for trail, enduro, and XC riders who want top-tier efficiency without sacrificing downhill capability. If you value tech, don’t mind app tuning, and want a cleaner, wireless setup, it’s a smart upgrade. For riders who prefer simplicity, a traditional shock may be a better (and cheaper) fit.
